Keith Urban gives us a sneak peak

Keith Urban has posted on his site keithurban.net a glimpse into the creation of his new animated, yet to be released, music video for Kiss A Girl.

Shot in his now hometown of Nashville in the U. S. of A, “Kiss A Girl: Take #1” shows The Urbs and his band perform it up and tease the fans for whats still to come with the finished goods.

Count down is on to rid the green…

Lily and band stop in at Jools Holland

Lily was rockin’ the bob and the demure lacy collar for the not entirely demure ‘Not Fair’ on Jools Holland.

While you’re here, take a listen to the ‘Annie Nightingale and Far Too Loud Electro Mix’ of the track. It’s a little bit less country…

Lost at sea no more: Bob Evans’ Pasha Bulker

I shared some photos from Bob Evans’ Pasha Bulker video a few posts back, and since our day at sea the co-directors Johnny Lopez and Richard Ellis pretty much went into hermit mode in their editing suite to deliver us the finished clip. And here we have it!

Some fun facts:

  • the fisherman who serves dinner in the clip is actually the owner/operator of the boat, ‘Kimbarra.’ The third actor didn’t show before the ship sailed.
  • the directors of the clip hired the trawler simply by going to the Sydney Fish Markets and putting a note on the boat asking the owner to call if it was available for a video shoot.
  • an InSound commentator pointed out that the Director of Photography, Borce Damcevski, works with The Wiggles. Awesome.
  • …and there wasn’t a toilet on the boat. A long day at sea, indeed.

Scary Secret Revealed!

The jig is up World Bar! The secret headliner for the 24th April “Oozevoodoo” has now been revealed as The Scare - which now will certainly mean one hell of a party!

mumapr24scare

The Scare actually played a warehouse party similar to this up on the Gold Coast a few weeks ago at a Streetkid party. A mate actually passed on a tiny review & some pics from the night too.

“By 9.30 the tiny warehouse, its ‘cab graveyard’ of a backyard and a good part of the street (two doors up from the Gold Coast Banditos headquaters) were full of goon bag toting, tinnie drinking peeps hanging out to see DZ and THE SCARE.

Halfway through DZ’s energetic set the power cut out, 10 minutes later after a lod of running around, we pulled down a gate and got to the switchboard to sort it out. Problem sorted.

The Scare killed it, new material was well recieved by the normally unresponsive, scene queen crowd the goldcoast is well known for.

Hot as hell, sweaty… the show did wonders. Finished up with 300 people on the street, cops came to move us on. Good night, minimal troubles… “

Out the Airlock – Free MP3 from Paul Dempsey? Certainly.

Out the Airlock

Yesterday, Paul Dempsey dialled in to Triple J from the mixing studio in LA  to chat new song, new album, and the very vital role ‘fruit’ plays in the recording process. But it wasn’t all talk, the first single ‘Out the Airlock’ from the upcoming album made its debut on the airwaves as well.

And now it’s available as a free MP3 download for a limited time (update: gone!). So get on over to pauldempseymusic.com to add it to your collection.

It’s an unassuming gem of a track, take a listen below:

Royksopp + Robyn = The Girl and the Robot

According to Stereogum, it’s been 7 long years since Royksopp has done a TV performance. Well, thank goodness for the internet so that we can watch the duo and Robyn perform ‘The Girl and the Robot’ on Norwegian show Senkveld.

Love the set, the lights and multi-Robyn mosaic special effect. Maybe this Miami Horror clip isn’t so retro afterall…

On April 19th 2009, the author of the infamous novel “Empire Of The Sun” J.G Ballard unfortunately passed away.

This novel & the 1987 screenplay adaption by Steven Speilberg was from where our boys Nick Littlemore & Luke Steele based their name from.

To look into J.G. Ballard’s amazing collection of work, check it out here.
