I’m a Lennon girl (it was the hair). You might be a McCartney person. We can fight it out on The Beatles Rock Band, out on 09-09-09 worldwide. But you can’t play the tunes if you don’t know the albums.
On September 9, the whole Beatles catalogue is being released, digitally re-mastered for the first time. As much fun as it’d be to hang out at Abbey Rd listening to Magical Mystery Tour and playing with vintage equipment all day, I’m not jealous of the team of 7 engineers – it took them four years.
The end product is a collector’s wet dream… 14 stereo albums, each with original UK album art, expanded booklets with original and new liner notes, rare photos, and a doco film about each album. Plus two boxsets (The Stereo Albums, and The Beatles in Mono ). Plus notes and essays by Kevin Howlett. Plus a DVD collection of the album docos. Help! and Rubber Soul include the ‘65 original stereo mixes (never released on disc), and come in a mini vinyl CD replica of the original sleeves.
Unfortunately no Ringo lego figures – cuteness!

Most people’s musical journeys started with The Beatles – courtesy of cherished vinyl collections, teachers’ enthused recommendations, far too many jingles, and for a lucky few, the first-hand experience. Now I once again plan on drowning out my whole street with Blue Jay Way.
Meet you for that Rock Band showdown in September.
