New Beastie Boys Hot Sauce Commitee track list and more…

If you got the latest issue of Vice mag you may have seen a small lift out mag called “We Can Meet Heroes”. If you skipped through to the “The Time I Met..” page you’ll see the story of when I met my heroes in the Beastie Boys. So you can understand why I get all warm in the undies when I get mail like this in my in box.

Beastie Boys recently began a summer festival mission with a set at the Bonnaroo festival that blew the crowd of 70,000-plus out of their Birkenstocks and caused devil sticks to spontaneously combust. The performance featured an appearance by Nas who joined the Boys for the live debut of the new record’s “Too Many Rappers,” as well as a rare appearance from Country Mike for an acoustic rendition of “Heart Attack Man.”

Finally, the last installment of the deluxe, remastered, expanded and altogether awesome Beastie Boys catalogue reissues will be dropping in advance of the new record: Hello Nasty will be given the 2-CD/vinyl box set/multi-format treatment beginning with an August 17 pre-order/digital release and pre-orders for the expanded, remastered multi-format Ill Communication will begin July 6.

Faker, live from RADelaide

A one-off, if ever I saw… A relatively low energy Nathan Hudson keeping confined to a small space!?

No scaffolding. No air conditioning ducts?!? See his standard form below:

But this time he’s just warming up in the green room for a climb-worthy stage. The guys from Faker are supporting Pink on her never-ever-ever-ending Australian tour right now. Here’s some flip-cam footage we scrounged up of Nic Munnings getting the band lost in Adelaide, plus a very chilled Broadway-bulb-lit rehearsal session.

Kids… On… Ooooverload…

Animal Collective – Summertime Clothes

Here’s the brand spanking new video for Summertime Clothes from our crazy psych folk friends, Animal Collective, directed by Danny Perez (who has done some of their previous clips) and featuring Brooklyn’s FLEX dance crew, who appeared with the band when they performed on Letterman.

For those of you that were a touch disappointed with the My Girls video and found yourself longing for the freak trip spectaculars of the old AC clips of yore, I think this will do the trick.

For some reason, this video makes me think of sausages yet makes me want to eat jelly.

Katy Perry Power Metal

Thankyou to Perez Hilton for this absolute gem, performed and recorded by Andy Xiong. Original version and vocals, naturally a Katy Perry classic.

Dragon Force all the way! Would like to hear some Cannibal Corpse-esque death metal growls though…

F*** You Very, Very Much

We’re eagerly awaiting an ‘official’ Lily Allen video for everyone’s favourite middle-finger waving anthem, Fuck You. In the meantime, we have this anti-homophobia video created by Lily’s French fans.

PS – Lily might have left Australia but thankfully we have her interview with Dools on Triple J to look forward to. 3pm today!

Special Preview from Jonsi & Alex – global exclusive!

Riceboy Sleeps

We’ve previously shared a bit with you about the forthcoming Riceboy Sleeps album. Back then, we were using the artists’ full names but have now abbreviated it to simply Jonsi & Alex. So far, the duo have shared 3 songs that will be on the album including: Happiness, All The Big Trees, and Daníell In The Sea.

Now, with a hushed sense of excitement, the InSound can unveil three more album tracks. Step into the very fittingly named Soundcloud for 24 mins 48 secs of escape.

And then find out a bit more about each and every track on the album from Jonsi & Alex themselves. (press play on the quicktime player below)

Royksopp – The Girl & The Robot

Scandinavia unites! That Swedish platinum-blonde minx Robyn teamed up with Norway’s Royksopp for their latest, The Girl and the Robot.

And the video takes really takes the song title literally. Robyn falls in love with and is thoroughly ignored by yannow… a robot.

PS, a Scandinavian electronica duo is nothing without a requisite Sven.

Arctic Monkeys – new album!

Arctic Monkeys (note, no The) announced their new album title… Oh, and Alex Turner has really long hair.

The new album set for a late August release is titled Humbug and produced by James Ford (Klaxons, The Last Shadow Puppets) in NYC and Joshua Homme (Queens of the Stone Age frontman) in the Cali Desert… Sounds like a super-hybrid of stoner-blues-rock, psych-pop, and classic Monkeys stomping dance rock. This could get confusing.

The band are taking control of the artwork for this album – drummer Matt Helders has redesigned their logo as a start.

The lads have spilled a few more beans in an interview in this week’s issue of NME. Go fetch.
