Dance tune for the weekend – Medina & Deadmau5’s “You and I”

It’s Friday. Get the tunes pumping and your dancing shoes on.

Bet you $50 this tune will be blasting out of every club you walk past this weekend… It’s Danish vocalist Medina’s massive international hit You and I (or the #1 for 6weeks, double platinum uber-anthem Kun for Mig in Denmark). Fortunately, this version is in English and the Deadmau5 remix kicks butt.

The half Chilean, half Danish Medina played shows with Lady GaGa and The Pussycat Dolls this year, and she’s not half bad to look at.

Check out the video for Deadmau5 remix of You and I

AIR – Download your mashup of “Love 2″

In the tradition of sexy dreamy French electro, AIR are releasing Love 2 – their fifth studio album on Oct 2.

And what a studio… Jean-Benoit Dunckel and Nicolas Godin recorded in their own private studio named Atlas, nestled in the leafy backstreets of northern Paris. So it’s no wonder that the single Sing Sang Sung sounds like a glass of rose wine wine and puppy dogs skipping down the Seine on a summer Sunday afternoon. Even our resident office cranky-pants (no names) loves it. Check out the clip on the widget below.

So… before Love 2 reaches Australia, you can download a free mashup of the album. Head to www.aircheology.com/mashup/air-mashup.html

By the way, if you pre-order Love 2 on iTunes, you’ll get an exclusive track named Danger Zone. Go fetch.

Songs for the Apocalypse (AKA the Sydney duststorm)

What’s to do when you look out the window in the morning, only to see your town blanketed in blood red dust and the zombies have been let out to play? (maybe… we can’t see them, but that’s not saying much today)

Put your feet up, turn on our Dust Apocalypse playlist, and watch the storm roll in. It’s end of the world as we know it…

What have really discovered today, is that Oz EMI staff can really step up to the plate when song puns are involved…

Daft Punk vs You vs Me – the DJ Hero trailer

If you’ve seen Daft Punk live, you’re surely a member of the I’ve seen the Daft Punk Pyramid, life will never be the same facebook group – because the Alive 2007 world tour was unquestionably the single most electrifying live experience  to hit this fair planet.

In fact, after watching the trailer for Daft Punk’s DJ Hero, half of theinsound HQ here is reliving the experience by blasting Alive through the office right now.

Cannot wait to get my Robot Rocking hands on this set of decks.

Reasons Not To Have A Band Lip-Sync – Case Study: Muse

Maybe this Italian TV show didn’t know what they were in for when asking Muse to lip-sync.

I never realised that Matt was such an excellent drummer.

Jamie T ‘Chaka Demus’ remix – hear it here

Jamie T and The Pacemakers are in OZ on their national sold out tour… from all reports the gigs have been as fun as that first Sydney show I saw. A friend of mine got so into the 2nd show she lost her thongs (flip flops if you’re English)!

The album Kings & Queens had a debut this week of #17 on the ARIA Chart and the guys have been doing some really cool performances for radio and TV to promote it like this one for Nova.

We’ve also got our hands on a remix of Chaka Demus for theinsound peeps – enjoy

Lily Allen – Womanizer (Live at Bestival 2009)

Lily Allen was channeling Britney in more ways that one when she stepped out on stage at the 2009 Bestival on the Isle of Wight last weekend. Apart from her stellar performance of Womanizer (note actual live vocals / no vocoder), isn’t the scanty outfit a bit more electro-pop than we’re used to seeing Ms Allen don?

Lily has been mixing up the fashion more of late: a heavily made-up and evening-gown-draped Lily traipses through the warzone of a ladies room on a Saturday night for the clip for 22, and a platinum blond alter-ego (not Bat For Lash’s blond alter-ego Pearl) gracing the cover of UK Elle mag.

Other headliners at Bestival included Massive Attack (check out their new EP in full!), Kraftwerk, and the aforementioned Bat for Lashes. Not bad for a wintery weekend in the country!
