Songs for the Apocalypse (AKA the Sydney duststorm)

What’s to do when you look out the window in the morning, only to see your town blanketed in blood red dust and the zombies have been let out to play? (maybe… we can’t see them, but that’s not saying much today)

Put your feet up, turn on our Dust Apocalypse playlist, and watch the storm roll in. It’s end of the world as we know it…

What have really discovered today, is that Oz EMI staff can really step up to the plate when song puns are involved…

REM – It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (Karen, Bec, Lisa, Bryan M, Pri)
Well, I’m a bit more upbeat about the whole apocalypse so I’m gonna say REM ‘its the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine)’ coz I do – Bec

Siouxsie and the Banshees – Cities In Dust (Liz)

Chemical Brothers – In Dust we Trust (Scotty)

Split Enz – I See Red (Nikki)

Aphrodite’s Child – The Four Horsemen (Saunders)
Best song ever written about the end of the world. Vangelis, Demis Roussos, and a psychedelic wig-out of biblical proportions…

Rob Pattinson – Choking On The Dust (Asha)
Go with sexy rob (and one for the asthmatics)

Gerling – Dust Me Selecta (Hawker)

Prince – 1999 (Poston)

Craig Armstrong – Weather Storm (Mark F)

Misfits – Dust To Dust (Emma)

The Doors – The End (Dickie)
This the end, beautiful friend…. I love the smell of napalm in the morning!

The Doors – Riders On The Storm (Bryan M)

Doves – Kingdom of Rust (Nikki)

Slim Dusty – How Good It Is (Craig M)

Dusty Springfield – I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself (Bryan M, Nikki)

Peter Gabriel – Red Rain (Paul)

Darude – Sandstorm (Mark H)

Queen – Another One Bites The Dust (Barnesy, Bec, Pri)

Muse – Apocalypse Please (Pri)

Mazzy Star – Into Dust (Liesl, Nikki)

Cloud Control – Death Cloud (Mark H)

Alessi’s Ark – The Asteroids Collide (Liesl)

Talking Heads – Road To Nowhere (Tara)

David Bowie – Life On Mars (Kristy)
Coz it looks like the red planet exploded all over ours this morning!

Iron Maiden – Run To The Hills (Bec)

Queens of the Stone Age – Go With The Flow (Kara)
Probably the dustiest, reddest, & best video of all time!

I like it (6 people like this)

Um – Josh Pyke’s Memories and Dust (how did you not pick that one).

Other good Aussie ones – Blue Leaves Red Dust by Youth Group, and Dusty in Here by the Go-Betweens (which Youth Group covered!)
