It’s Time For Change: It’s Time To Sing!
As many of you already know, the United Nations Climate Change Conference will take place this December in Copenhagen. World leaders will have the opportunity to come up with a robust climate agreement that will help make our planet a better place.
EMI Australia felt the need to pitch in and create more environmentally sustainable behaviours in our workplace. On Friday 30th October, we held “It’s Time for Change” Day as a way of raising awareness of the critical talks in Copenhagen and doing our bit to start positively impacting our environment.
“It’s Time for Change” is a day where all of EMI was conscious of our actions and began to take positive steps towards reducing our carbon footprint; everyone wore GREEN (or a touch of green) to get into the festivities.
A global campaign to drive awareness in the run up to Copenhagen has been launched and a key element is the soundtrack. Beds are Burning the classic track by Midnight Oil has been chosen for the campaign and the aim was to have famous artists and celebrities cover the song as a musical petition. In the spirit of this campaign, we thought it would be a great idea if we also got involved and did a cover ourselves. We may not be world famous singers or musicians but we can certainly raise our voices as a group (whether bad, good or great) to show our support. You can watch a snippet of our performance and the version performed by the collaborating artists below. Personally I think we give the professionals a run for the money.
Further to this (and this is very exciting) Mark Poston very generously agreed to purchase a huge 30 TONNES OF CARBON OFFSETS (1 tonne per participant in our singalong)!
Not only have EMI staff been getting into the greenie spirit, our very own Felix from The Cat Empire teamed up with The Beautiful Girls a couple of weeks ago and sang at the Opera House as part of 350 International Climate Action Day.
Check out what Felix has to say about climate change. (He will also be attending the United Nations Climate Change Conference in December held in Copenhagen.)
This is a great time for us all to start making environmentally friendly changes for the future. It’s Time for Change!

Nice one guys! So many people are doing cool things to raise awareness for this thing in Copenhagen…
There’s a guy riding his bike from Australia to Denmark (here’s his website: http://rideplanetearth.org/) People are pretty awesome sometimes.
