Miami Horror and Neon Indian play Sandcastles together

After a night of seeing Miami Horror, Lily Allen and then Karaoke with The Midnight Juggernauts and some beers for good measure I’m a little weary while writing this post. Add to that the fact I should have posted this last week and it brings on feelings of inadequacy that I usually only feel in the bedroom.
But anyway I thought that it was worth posting some footage of Miami Horror and Neon Indian performing Make You Mine at the inaugural Sandcastles Festival in Melbourne.
Alan / Vega / Neon Indian features heavily on the new Miami Horror record that’s due later this year. We had a listen to some of the tracks yesterday and it’s sounding super cool. Think Manfred Mann meets Daft Punk meets AIR meets Animal Collective. Along with Neon Indian there’s also tracks that feature Josh from the band, Penelope from Golden Filter, Mai and Sam Lawrence (who sang with the band at Falls Festival and if you have footage of that post it!!!)
In true journalistic fashion I recently caught up with Hugh Waters the promoter of Sandcastles festival and asked him some amazingly in-depth questions.
Hi Hugh?
Hi.
Hugh, how was it putting on your first festival?
Interesting learning experience. It wasn’t full scale and we were working with people who already put on large outdoor events. It was pretty much just booking and promotion for us but definitely a fair bit different to clubs.
Hugh, as someone who gave Miami Horror some of his first DJ gigs do you feel happy to see where they are now? What do you think the album will be like?
Yeah its great to see Miami go from just an idea to the top of his game. I think it’s good they haven’t rushed anything and I think this will mean the album is good quality as well.
Hugh, what were some of your highlights from the day?
Seeing some of the smaller bands from Melbourne really pull good crowds and put on amazing shows. Madonna, Will Wagner , The Kickabouts, got the vibe going early.
Hugh, will Sandcastles be back in 2011?
Not sure depends on the councils feedback but i think everything went smoothly for them
And now to the video…
I like it (3 people like this)
