Don’t Think: The Chemical Brothers film review
Knowing that we were going along on Friday night to see The Chemical Brothers was pretty damn exciting… except this time, we weren’t watching them live (booo), we were going to the cinema to watch the new ‘Brothers film Don’t Think…
Filmed with 20 cameras at a headline show at Japan’s Fujirock Festival, Don’t Think is the first time the full Chemical Brothers live experience has been captured on film. Directed by long term visuals collaborator Adam Smith, this full-length concert movie places cameras in the centre of the stage as well as at the very heart of the crowd to perfectly capture a fan’s eye view of the heightened emotional reactions of the audience seeing the band at their very best.
The cinema was absolutely buzzing as soon as we walked in, with people cheering and clapping as soon as the opening sequence started. It quickly dragged you in and made you feel like you were actually there in the pumping crowd (amazing!).
For any of you who have seen The Chems live, you will know that their graphics are probably the best in the world, and that their live shows are completely mind-blowing. This definitely was not lost on film… one word to describe their show is EPIC!
When it got to ‘Hey Boy, Hey Girl’ the whole cinema erupted into even louder cheers and a load of people ran down the aisles to the front to dance in front of the screen… tops came off, crowd surfing ensued, fist pumping, the lot! There was definitely something more than just the music influencing this party crew.
This was the most insane cinema experience ever, and highly recommended… it may even be the way forward for those veteran clubbers who still love the tunes but don’t have the stamina to dance all night…. everyone’s a winner!
Just… DON’T THINK and DO THE SALMON DANCE!
I like it (2 people like this)
