A&R Demos

The A&R Team are still losing their minds within the midst of the Demo Stockpile trying to find the latest and greatest thing!

If you’re an artist / band – make sure you submit your music through the A&R Dropbox because entries are going to be listened to & reviewed on this here webpage (Australian artists only sorry!).

EMI’s A&R Team Answers Your Questions

Here at EMI we spend lots of time answering questions of independent artists whether we’re out and about, at a conference or on email. We thought it would be good to share those answers more broadly and make them public so everyone can benefit from them.

Every month, we’re going to be answering your questions in blog posts or direct to camera about life at a major label and Australian music in general.

You can see the first instalment here with EMI’s A&R scout Mark Holland discussing a day in the life of an A&R scout, the role of MySpace and his favourite Australian producers.

See you in a month!

Thanks for that. You must totally get to listen to a big mix of different sounds. I do wonder if you get put off a demo if it doesn’t pull you in straight away.

Haha I totally agree with your perspective on myspace. The friends don’t mean so much. It’s more how you can mobilise them and the power of word of mouth through the net. I know as my 47,000 85% in Auz give me little attention unless I make an effort ..

    Si,
