Late last year Channel 9’s TODAY SHOW ran a major COLDPLAY promotion for a winner and friend to see them live in London just before Christmas.

Hew Sandison from Canberra was the lucky winner and obviously a massive Coldplay fan as he documented his trip of a lifetime and put it up on youtube. It’s a gorgeous video, that will give you goose bumps around the 2.20 minute mark. It’s so nice when a true fan wins a competition like this.

The long wait is over. Coldplay’s fifth album is finally in stores today. It features all the songs you’ve been reading about – the Rihanna collaboration “Princess Of China”, live favourite “Charlie Brown” and the single “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall”.

The new Coldplay single is “Paradise” and the new video is now up on the old youtube. It’s filmed in London and South Africa and features the band….well, it’s kind of hard to explain. But it makes you smile. It makes you sad. It makes you go ‘aw…’. All those good universal feelings that makes Coldplay the biggest band in the world. Plus a unicycle.

The band have just launched a personalized album artwork application on www.coldplay.com, where fans can create their own Mylo Xyloto artwork using their initials. Last night, Coldplay dropped in to Hamish & Andy’s new show Gap Year. They had a bit of a chat about the new album and the time that the band nearly lost Chris at the Sound Relief concert in Australia. Hamish & Andy also challenged the band with a T-Shirt gun shoot off, with Coldplay coming out on top. The band seemed only slightly bewildered by the Australian sense of humour and took it in their stride. If you ask me, it was some mighty funny TV.

More exciting though, was when the band dragged all their lights and gear onto the roof and performed “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall”, the first single from Mylo Xyloto: their new album out next month. Even fi it’s playing just one song for one TV show, the band really give it their all. You can watch the video below:

Coldplay released their new single ‘Paradise’ today, the same day it receives its first play on UK and Australian radio. The track is taken from the band’s forthcoming album Mylo Xyloto, due for release on October 21st. The album is now available for pre-order through Coldplay.com and iTunes. Fans who pre-order the album on iTunes will instantly receive a download of ‘Paradise’. The track is also available to purchase as a single download.

Mylo Xyloto was produced by Markus Dravs, Daniel Green and Rik Simpson, with enoxification and additional composition by Brian Eno. The album includes the track ‘Princess of China’ which features vocals by Rihanna.
