We’ve trawled our offices for exclusive, signed and money-can’t-buy items to be auctioned off and raise money for the devastating Queensland Flood Relief and come up with some real treasures.
This is a rare and great opportunity to bid for that valuable signed album from your favourite artists including limited edition vinyl, CDs, posters and other exclusive items which have unearthed in the search for this much needed cause.
If you think the party you went to was good – check out the performance by Kanye West, Chris Martin and Jay-Z at the Las Vegas Cosmopolitan Hotel of Kayne’s Homecoming feat. Chris Martin… Wouldn’t it have have been brilliant to be there!?
Keep your ears tuned for new Coldplay music coming this year as promised!
Apparently there is a video in the works for Christmas Lights too… if it’s anywhere as stunning as their Strawberry Swing video by Shynola, we’re in for a treat!
Coldplay for UK Christmas #1 anybody!?
ED UPDATE:
As promised, here’s the video hot off a barge on the Thames (which may be frozen over by now – serious case of Christmas snow jealousy!)
You can now buy the Christmas Lightssingle or the video from iTunes. Whilst you’re there, don’t forget to follow the boys on Ping.
As Steve Jobs, who is still channeling Jerry Seinfeld, reveals the Ping and iPod updates to the world, his very own special guest Chris Martin added a musical surprise to the event.
Chris, witty as ever, introduces a new song that they are working on called Coldplay’s 2.6. With the apple geeks in laughter he launched into a track oficially called Wedding Bells. Some fans of Coldplay would have seen this track pop up last year on YouTube however today’s version gives us a glimpse into a new Coldplay hit in the making.
Bring on the 5th studio album that will no doubt surpass the magic of 2008’s Viva La Vida!
Top secret location (keep your ears peeled whilst walking past converted London churches), top secret tunes, and piled on security measures though: “There’s only two people in the whole building who know how to open all the recording files,” Martin explained. “Even we [Coldplay] don’t know how to do it. We couldn’t even steal our own music at the moment. You would have to be a computer genius and a great burglar to get into the building, and download it, and mix it.”
Check out the boys’ interview with Brazilian TV network Globo (mind the Portuguese subs), where the unveil the facts below:
And in case you missed the Coldplay Simpson’s episode, here the band’s appearance on the show (featuring their Grammy-winning Viva La Vida), and bonus footage of Chris Martin goofing off behind the scenes and improvising lines that didn’t make the cut:
God bless those Coldplay fellas, they are having an ‘End of Decade Clearout Sale’ to help raise money for the charity Kids Company.
From December 17 to December 31 on eBay the band will sell everything from instruments and stage equipment, to costumes from the ‘Viva La Vida’ tour, to signed platinum discs, posters and much more…
They even made a video modelling some of the merch – including this guitar that plays alllll the notes!
Riding off the back of the biggest ARIA Awards since Ben Hur (please don’t mention that ARIAs didn’t necessarily operate during the time of Christ), it’s difficult to let the party die down. After all, it’s only 3 weeks til Christmas!
So indeed the good times continue with the news that we (that’s EMI worldwide, not my band) have FIFTY SIX Grammy Award nominations in the whopping one hundred and nine categories – far too many to list, but here are our EMI highlights!
Multiple nominees include our favourite shaggy-haired, bikini-babe-surrounded Frenchman David Guetta (who also produced The Black Eyed Peas’ Grammy nominated album and record of the year), Coldplay, Depeche Mode, Keith Urban and American Classic legend Willie Nelson.
Katy Perry announced the Best Rock Album nominees and discussed the Black Eyed Peas nominations – watch the videos.
And yes, the reason why the Grammy artwork is so cool this year is no other than Shepard Fairey – the man behind THAT Obama / Hope and Obey / Giant artwork – is responsible. OBEY (great music)
According to one the all-knowing Sun, Coldplay are back in the studio during their breather between finishing the Northern hemisphere tour and commencing a South American leg. They’ve upgraded from their rather pedestrian studio The Bakery for something more swish up the road. And they appear to be recording an album.
And we’re all for that especially if it means no multi-year ingestion period for the band post-Viva. Chris Martin has said he’s afraid the creative well will run dry as he advances into his 30s “I’m 31 now and I don’t think that bands should keep going past 33.” That was in 2008, so hurry Chris before 33 is staring you down!
In the meantime, watch the above clip to relive one of the most magnificent live moments of the past year when Chris decided to sprint through the Sydney Cricket Ground mid- ‘Fix You’ during the Sound Relief concert. The Sound Relief DVD is out now and includes that magically chaotic performance.
