It’s Only Natural… to love Fridays

Aaah the weekend is finally upon us, and all us EMI-ers who are not pitching tents at Splendour today are getting excited about the They Will Have Their Way tour. Why? Because the incredibly breathtaking new single “It’s Only Natural”, covered by Lior and Emma-Louise, is out today on iTunes.  Get in!

Through Split Enz to Crowded House, solo albums and The Finn Brothers recordings, Tim and Neil Finn’s music continues to affect people from all generations, their songs woven into the fabric of Australian life.  From the cerebral to the surreal, the delicate to the chaotic, the jovial to the soulfully tortured, the artistry of the Finn brothers’ work shines through their incomparable song catalogue. Both brothers have consistently proven their knack for crafting high-quality songs that combine irresistible melodies with meticulous lyrical detail, creating the soundtrack to our lives.

The They Will Have Their Way tour kicks off in November – with new shows added to both Melbourne and Sydney.

Quick Q&A* with Paul Dempsey

You’re playing the They Will Have Their Way Neil and Tim Finn tribute concerts – what was your first Finn epiphany?

Mean to Me, on the very first Crowded House record, was the first one. It’s the first thing I remember being aware of from Neil Finn. I think I was eight or nine years old. I remember figuring out how to play it on the guitar. I’ve always loved that song.

The concerts will feature yourself, Sarah Blasko, Clare Bowditch, Sally Seltmann, Lior, Holly Throsby and Alexander Gow singing Finn tunes. How’s it going to work?

We’ll all be doing a couple of things ourselves, then collaborating, partnering up in different ways.

How are you going to choose who sings what?

It’s still early on in the song selection process. Everyone will have their favourites. There’s so many possibilities for different combinations of people. And, of course, so many brilliant songs. My wish list is a gigantic list. Whittling it down is the challenge.

He Will Have His Way: The Songs of Tim & Neil Finn – out November 12

The Finn Brothers may have a global legacy, but every Aussie and Kiwi holds at least one Crowded House song dear to our Southern Cross branded hearts…

OK, all schmaltz aside, the Finn Brothers have concocted some of the most iconic and stunning tracks in living memory.

He Will Have His Way To honour the legendary Tim and Neil, some of the nation’s most diverse and favourite talents have pulled together to create He Will Have His Way: The Songs of Tim & Neil Finn… and it’s freakin’ stunning.

He Will Have His Way is the male sequel to 2005’s universally acclaimed She Will Have Her Way and features the likes of Paul Kelly, Jimmy Barnes, Paul Dempsey, Chris Cheney, former members of Midnight Oil [as The Break] and Empire Of The Sun’s Luke Steele [as The Sleepy Jackson]. And don’t you worry that there are two versions of Better Be Home Soon. In true Luke Steele fashion, The Sleepy Jackson’s version is pretty damn unique. In fact give all the tracks a whirl here!

We’re thinking this album is probably the Best. Christmas Gift. Ever. It’s available from iTunes, JB Hi-Fi, The In Song, and Sanity. Go, go, go!
