SXSW: Pretty Much Amazing
So if you’re a regular reader of this blog, you know that we’re all pretty big music fans here at EMI AUS and despite our geographic coordinates we manage to get around! While some of the A&R team were laughing it up in Miami at Ultra Music Festival, there were a couple of us on the other side of the USA, at SXSW in Austin, Texas where everything is in fact, bigger (especially the cheeseburgers).

It’s such a ludicrous thing to try and encapsulate 7 days of musical mayhem into a blog post but here goes. Austin during SXSW is a town possessed! The relatively small city is absolutely teaming with musicians, music fans, industry folk and hipsters (isn’t it funny that hipsters look the same all over the world???). The vibe in the city is electric with streets blocked off to accommodate the thousands of people that descend on the town to see hundreds of bands in any kind of place that can fit a stage. The streets are filled with people busking, fans talking about the best or worst thing they saw that day, cupcake vans and Roller Derby chicks ordering hotdogs (amazing).
