Last week, Erika Heynatz screened her Bullet video on a wintry rainy intimate night at The Beresford in Surry Hills. While we huddled under the outdoor gas heaters, cinematic tales of romance, intrigue, suspense (and hot guys & girls!) unfolded on the screen before us.

Erika performed several tunes off her upcoming album Sweeter Side (due out in July), including Bullet, her previous single Kingdom, and Mind Games (fellow In Sounder Meeg’s passionate fave), and explained what it was like to work with a full studio orchestra and some of the best in the biz in California.

The video for Bullet featuring Rose Byrne’s older brother, George (a singer and musician himself), the vintage 1942 Harley-Davidson which was ridden by Hugh Jackman in Wolverine and a python named Blake… check it out here.

Erika’s premiere of her music video for Bullet will be Monday 7th June! There are 3 double passes are up for grabs to the exclusive event (including a live performance of brand new material from her debut album). To be in the running, just head to Erika’s facebook page.

We shot the video the other week and Jonathon Moran joined us and put together this great behind-the-scenes at The Daily Telegraph – it’s going to be a HOT video. When we chatted to Erika about the new single (at radio Monday June 7) she said: I think Bullet is a modern day twist on a classic cupid’s arrow story, if Quentin Tarantino was cupid. Bullet is the second official single from Erika Heynatz’s debut release Sweeter Side.

This track was written by Chris Braide and Nikola Bedingfield. Chris has written for the likes of Cheryl Cole, Clay Aiken, Kylie Minogue, Paloma Faith, Soft Cell, Nick Littlemore among others and Nikola along with being a talented songwriter is also the sister of Natasha and Daniel Bedingfield. It was produced by Luke Gordon who has not only worked on his own Spacer and Red Snapper projects has also worked with artists such as Goldfrapp, Coldcut, Les Rita Mitsouko, Marc Almond, The Cure and most recently on The Stereophonics.

I know her fans will be looking forward to hearing it!

Fashion Week has kicked off well and truly in Sydney and who would have thought my music career could take me see Alex Perry’s incredible show (I don’t think that’s the right term – I think it’s ‘viewing’). Tuesday night I was lucky enough to go, because Erika was performing at a VIP event at Stage 7 FOX Studios, an amazing room, which I was told used to be where the Titanic ride was (who wants to go a on a ride where you sink? I guess that’s another story!)

Erika performed 4 songs including her currently single Kingdom and introduced her next single Bullet which she is currently putting the finishing touches on before we go to radio. It was a smoking hot performace as you can see by the photo.

Erika performed for the first time on TV since she took home the award from It Takes Two.

She chatted to the Morning Show’s Larry and Kylie about the songwriting process, too many cups of tea, and appropriate performance footwear. (Have to say, very cool boots…)

And in fact, Erika wore the v same Roc boots when she dropped  in to our office this afternoon to perform an acoustic set for us over a few beers and crisps. After threatening to choke on said potato crisp, Erika performed several songs from her forthcoming album, written and recorded throughout the UK, US, and Australia. In short, it all sounds absolutely stunning, and I can’t wait for you all to hear it!
