Faker are on their way back

Our favourite Sydney boys Faker are back and excited to offer up the first taste of their new record; a CSS remix of the track Dangerous, the first taste of new music to come from the band since October 2008.

With the single version of Dangerous set for a June 17 release, Nathan and Nic were so excited on hearing the CSS interpretation of the track that they could not wait for fans to hear it. You can download the remix for free at faker.com.au/freedownload

CSS (Brazil’s professional purveyors of fine party) put the balloons and streamers down for four and a half minutes of emotionally charged electro pop. Dangerous takes a floor-ready turn among tinkling piano keys and warm, synthetic bass.

The remix came about after a rather fortuitous meeting on the other side of the world. Nathan, who had spent extended periods of time travelling around South America looking for creative inspiration for the new record, had decided he would love to bump into Adriano from CSS in Sao Paulo, Brazil where the band CSS are based. And the next day, in a city of 20 million people, Nathan stumbled across Adriano in a small book shop; they got chatting and, after catching up again in Australia, they got to work on this remix of Dangerous.

Over the weekend the guys also announced a Sydney all ages show with FBi headlining “Choose Your Own Adventure” on July 2. Tix are available here.

Faker’s “Sleepwalking” up for an IF award!

Faker’s massive 2007 album Be The Twilight spawned this nifty little video for Sleepwalking – you know the one with the ear-wormy doo-doo-doo chorus….

The very-David-Lynch clip was directed by Luke Eve and is up for an Australian Inside Film Award! It was inspired by Gregory Crewdson’s photography and filmed in Sydney’s Centennial Park in one take on a horridly stormy night. Thankfully I was not on the shoot, but some other InSounders had to endure the cold dark night until dawn!

The final version is one of the last two takes between the rain clearing and the sun rising. Close call!

Voting for the IF awards ends this week so vote now!

Ghostship feat. FAKER’s Nathan Hudson

Listen to the new song from Pocket 808 (AKA Sameer Sengupta) featuring our very own Nathan Hudson from FAKER, who is working on the follow up to Be The Twilight featuring that HUGE single This Heart Attack… listen out this summer for the single!

Check out Pinks latest squeeze…

Just joking!  Faker wrapped up their national tour supporting Pink last week of an insane amount of dates… and that’s only half of them.  Nathan now heads off the LA to get busy writing the follow up to Be The Twilight expected out early 2010

Faker share the stage with PINK!

Our Sydney lads Faker are almost at the end of their national tour in support of one of pop’s biggest names PINK. Have they pulled it off? Did they hold their own? I went to the Sydney Entertainment Centre on Tuesday night to find out.

Surely the great thing about having a support slot with Pink is that all the parents will get there with the kids nice and early (as it is a school night)… so you’re gonna be playing to a packed room.

Nathan Hudson and crew were their usual energetic selves and seemed to be confident in front of their home town crowd. This Heart Attack kicked things off with a massive bang and it was good to see everyone from 8 year old girls through to 50 year old blokes singing the chorus. The rest of the set read like an FM listeners wet dream and included radio faves Are You Magnetic, Sleep Walking, Teenage Werewolf and Hurricane.

A highlight for me came when the band decided to let us in on some brand new material… showcasing the song One Track Mind which could be a taste of the forthcoming album they are currently hard at work at. Definitely looking forward to hearing more.

Faker, live from RADelaide

A one-off, if ever I saw… A relatively low energy Nathan Hudson keeping confined to a small space!?

No scaffolding. No air conditioning ducts?!? See his standard form below:

But this time he’s just warming up in the green room for a climb-worthy stage. The guys from Faker are supporting Pink on her never-ever-ever-ending Australian tour right now. Here’s some flip-cam footage we scrounged up of Nic Munnings getting the band lost in Adelaide, plus a very chilled Broadway-bulb-lit rehearsal session.

Kids… On… Ooooverload…
