Welcome to Tomorrow: Gorillaz – Plastic BeachThere’s a certain stench in the air. Some dark little critter oozing and swirling in the oily waters. Sounds, like a faded orchestra, emanating from dead hollow shells. A stinky, slinky snake made of potent gases, slithering on its way through the concrete jungle of life. THE FUTURE. It’s upon us. It’s nigh. It’s leering at you from across the bar. The future, our global obsession, is suddenly so very close. TOMORROW COMES TODAY. (They did try to warn us.) Nah – it’s turning out to be even more bizarre than all of that COMBINED…
It’s filthy, it’s dirty, it’s consumerism + depth = religion, it’s elements of Gotham City, it’s waste, it’s copy+paste, it’s computer-simulations, games and over-stimulations, it’s dangerous, it’s hilarious, it’s somehow strangely beautiful, it’s… Plastic Beach. Do you want to HEAR the future? Friends, hobos, lunching men – lend Gorillaz your ears!

Gorillaz new music and video premiere date revealedIt’s getting super exciting with the Gorillaz album Plastic Beach out NEXT FRIDAY March 5!!!! They’ve posted a new song online called ‘Superfast Jellyfish’ featuring Gruff Rhys and De La Soul at www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4UtbrbsrjY AND they’ve announced the first video from the new album Stylo will premiere on YouTube at 4pm next Tuesday. Mighty Murdoc remembers, “Someone was chasing me through the desert! Luckily I had my camera crew following me and they captured it all on film, so I’ve cut it up and stuck it back together for my Stylo video! That’ll learn me not to leave the safe, toxic, isolated haven of Plastic Beach…” They’ve also revealed a little more here Pre-order the album now on iTunes, JB Hi-Fi or Sanity!
Gorillaz ‘Stylo’ remix AND first peek at the videoStylo, which has held the top position on Triple J for the last few weeks has now been remixed by Alex Metric which I heard this morning on the Js… it’s a great version: Also here’s the very first peek at the video… wonder who’s behind the wheel!?
Stylo from the Gorillaz new album Plastic Beach is due out March 5 but avail for pre-order now at JB Hi Fi and iTunes.
Murdoc Niccals has been sighted (and thinks Lady Gaga’s a…)There have been videos, interviews, and whispers and radio shows from the Gorillaz but to date no one has sited them… at last it looks like someone’s found Murdoc. Looks like his time on the wagon has passed!
Running off to exotic isles with champagne & suitcases of cash isn’t the only thing keeping Murdoc busy however. He’s also been guest-blogging for MTV and speculating on a pact between Beezlebub and Lady Gaga. According to Murdoc, all her success simply can’t be attributed to fireworks exploding out of her brassiere on-stage… but her Satan-y roots means she’s invited to the Plastic Beach anytime… Gorillaz Plastic Beach is out March 5.
Wanna see the Gorillaz HQ Plastic Beach?Five years on from the release of Demon Days, Murdoc Niccals and co. return with Gorillaz. The band have taken up residence, recording on a secret floating island deep in the South Pacific, a Plastic Beach HQ, made up of the detritus, debris and washed up remnants of humanity. This Plastic Beach is the furthest point from any landmass on Earth; the most deserted spot on the planet.
Someone got cameras onto the Island and here it is… is it a spy? And while you’re in a Gorillaz frame of mind, Murdoc Niccalls is broadcasting another pirate radio show from the Plastic Beach island in the South Pacific. This episode features a few “platinum cuts from the album”, dirty jokes, and more threats about playing us his dubious new track Stinkfish. And check out how the Gorillaz map has progressed… looks like something is head to OZ!
Murdoc’s Pirate Radio – broadcasting now!We are Gorillaz Central right now! Murdoc of new-tweet-dom fame (@MurdocGorillaz) is now broadcasting a Pirate Radio show from the lost Plastic Beach island currently inhabited by the Gorillaz crew floating out on the high seas. Tune in for Murdoc’s personal selection of pirate sea shanties and modern island-themed tunes, commentary on what he spent his Demon Days $$$ on, complaints about the island weather, witty ditties about his record collection, crude jokes, on-air drunkenness, and most importantly… NEW GORILLAZ TUNES! He’s not actually sure whether anyone out there on the high seas can really hear him, so tune in and drop him a line at www.gorillaz.com Also keep an eye on the map at Gorillaz.com which seems to be updating daily – perhaps showing the location of the band’s plastic island? It’s a mystery!
