JET are releasing their new single Seventeen in Australia first. Personally my favourite track of their album Shaka Rock.

Chris Cester, JET’s drummer and singer (how he does both at once is beyond me!) told us about the writing of this song:

Well it was bloody hot at this years Big Day Out Sydney but there was heaps to see and do to stop you thinking about the weather
Highlights for me were definately Peaches, Dizzy and Jet but it was all really topped off by Muse…AMAZING, especially their encore performance of ACDC’s ‘Back In Black’ with Nic Cester from Jet. Check it out here:

As I sit in my office here in Sydney I am AGAIN saddened by the fact that another icon Australia music venue is closing its doors.

But this one holds even more sentimental value than most as the Tote, on the corner of Johnston and Wellington Streets in Collingwood, was not only my old local but a venue that gave me some of my first gigs when I started playing music, it was the venue that hosted the very last Best Of The Brat, I went to two very rock’n'roll wedding receptions at, we had one my best mate Marcus’s 21st there so our bands could play and I saw some of the best and formative gigs there, from the Powder Monkeys and The Hellacopters to The White Stripes, Andre Williams and JET.

This venue to me was as iconic as CBGBS and sadly like CBGBS, all amazing things must come to an end.

Thankyou for providing the full 88 minute freakin’ awesome set from JET, live from the Metro Theatre on December 4 last year. I know what I’ll be rocking out to instead of watching the telly tonight.

For the 100s of people that pre-ordered the JET album on iTunes you would have recieved a very special cover version of Never Tear Us A Part by INXS. Now the rest of us have the chance to hear it from their performance with The Sun in the UK.

JET will be back in December joining a cracking line up for for the sold out Homebake.

JET scored a #5 album debut this week with SHAKA ROCK (yay) and She’s A Genius just keeps getting bigger and bigger. They recently performed another song on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon called Black Hearts On Fire… could this be their next single…?

JET don’t really do subtlety… they tend to specialise more in loud, in-your-face, unashamed ROCK. Shaka Rock, to be exact.

So, why am I not surprised by Nic Cester’s statement that the band would “very much appreciate it if you would go and buy our fucking album“??
