Sometimes you promise someone forever but it doesn’t work out that way.
Katy Perry plays a senior, silver-haired version of herself in her new music video for ‘The One That Got Away’. Flashback to fresh-faced teenage Katy: cue cute boy lover (Diego Luna), homemade tattoos, love’s young dream and romantic road trips. Forward back to the future, lonely, sad old Katy, pining over the good times lost. Yep it’s a tearjerker, so grab a tissue box and click play…

In a world that has gone “gaga”, it is refreshing to see one of pop’s brightest stars turn up the neon, spray on the lycra & show us all how to take life a little less seriously.
Katy Perry hilariously transforms into Kathy Beth Terry in her latest film clip & frankly it’s nothing short of a frizz ball of fun! From go to whoa, I loved every minute; celebrity cameos featuring the very best from the 80’s & 90’s (I spotted Kenny G, Debbie Gibson, Corey Feldman & Hanson), a flash of the running man (always a crowd-pleaser), Rebecca Black doing the robot & a makeover that would make Trinny & Susannah proud!
As a girl who grew up in the 80’s, I found myself transported back full throttle to a time free of cares & woes, big hair & blue eyeshadow, excitingly anticipating who would be Number 1 on Sunday’s Top 40 Countdown (taped to play over & over again of course!), spending Saturday afternoons at Top Shop (hurry & open up a Sydney shop soon!) & reading pop’s bible Smash Hits from cover to cover!
Well Kenny G may still have his sax, but Hanson no longer have long beautiful locks, Debbie Gibson is no longer playing in shopping malls, Corey Feldman is no longer a Lost Boy & my teen days are over, but Last Friday Night lets you live the good times all over again in an 8 minute show stopping spectacular!
After the long weekend and a massive Friday night, we hope your house still resembles that of Kathy Beth Terry – unconscious popstars and teen hearthrobs (across 3 decades) included.
The track Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) is available for purchase, but you’ll have to wait a little while longer to own the video. You should then buy it, burn it to DVD, & bury it in a time capsule for your great-grandchildren.
Last week Katy wowed TV audiences in the US with her performance of E.T. on American Idol (watch it here)
This week, she’s landed in Australia to kick off her California Dreams tour AND she’ll be performing live on Australian TV’s night of nights – The Logie Awards – this Sunday evening on the Nine Network.
If you don’t already have tickets to the tour, too bad, ’cause all 8 concerts are now sold out! But here’s a little video teaser of what goes on ‘on the road’ with Katy as a consolation prize.
Have you checked out Katy Perry’s make-up tutorials for the amazing looks in the nearly, almost, hurry-up-we-can’t-wait-any-longer video clip for E.T.?
There are some talented fans out there who have done the make-up and posted their masterwork on Katy’s facebook. But for those of you not so inclined to pick up the blusher, we have made it easy to go all alien style by downloading the look in a couple of easy steps. Do a quick ‘Save As’ and ‘Print’ and voila, you’ve got the look.
Remember – E.T. the video premieres April 1!!!
UPDATE: behold Katy Perry’s E.T. video ft Kanye West in all it’s glory:
Katy Perry shared this pic a few weeks back as a hint to the treatment of the E.T. video – yes, it’s about aliens! Beautiful aliens.
The premiere of the video happens April 1 (Australian time) but you can sing along here and start working on your alien look now with the help of a make-up tutorial over at Andrea’s Choice YouTube channel. Andrea is sharing a few looks online ahead of the E.T. premiere. Time to put on your face, darl!
I can’t even begin to imagine what goes through one’s mind for those few moments when all alone on the little elevator on the way up through a stage trap door to go and perform to 20,000 or so fans. “Where’s dinner after the show?” “I just want to be back in my fluffy white hotel bathrobe.” “Did I DVR House?”
While we ponder that one, just take the next minute to get a taste of what’s to come when Katy kicks off the Australian leg of her California Dreams tour. It all starts in Melbourne on April 28 at Rod Laver Arena. It’s looking like an arena-size show with the heart of a stadium performance.
We’ve trawled our offices for exclusive, signed and money-can’t-buy items to be auctioned off and raise money for the devastating Queensland Flood Relief and come up with some real treasures.
This is a rare and great opportunity to bid for that valuable signed album from your favourite artists including limited edition vinyl, CDs, posters and other exclusive items which have unearthed in the search for this much needed cause.
