Only in the hills of Mullumbimby could this gig take place! Lou Bradley here… how are all you townies?! Just wanted to tell you about a music video and gig that I had going on over the weekend up here in the Mullumbimby Hills.
The idea was this. We were shooting a clip for my new single Cowboy. Rather than follow the tradition of “hammy crappy country music cowboy clips, where hunky cowboy meets barbie blonde and falls in love approach’, I decided that using dolls would be fun. So we had a “Lou” doll and a hippy style mountain man cowboy doll and ran around the streets of Mullumbimby and up in the rain forest, pretending that they were human. It was way fun!
The end of the clip was suppose to incorporate the dolls getting together at the local country hall and watching a gig (Lou Bradley gig) for a dance (and a pash). So I booked the hall and was going to put on a show for all the colourful locals to attend and have a wing-ding.
But half way through the day of the shoot I found out that the hall was double booked by a 90th birthday party! Bumma! I had advertised through radio and print media and had the local ABC lady texting me saying how excited she was to come to the hall for the gig! I figured it was not really the done thing kicking out the grannys, so… we raced up the valley to the hall and pinned up signs and put up arrows and balloons all the way to my house (which is way up high in the mountains and almost impossible to find). We figured we would put on a house concert in true hippy style… find us if you dare. It was a hoot!
We managed to get around 40 or 50 people and it was such a great show..we ate stew and curry and drank wine and well… you know??? And the best part was, the dollies had a great time dancing and ended up being caught out on the couch!!
