‘Last Hope’ on the road… next stop SYDNEY!

derek-hynde042

Last Hope is a collaboration between surfing filmmaker Andrew Kidman (Glass Love, Litmus) and Spunk Records.

Andrew Kidman chose six of his favourite surfing filmmakers to create short films that were inspired by the sea. The filmmakers include Albert Falzon (Morning Of The Earth), Jon Frank (Litmus), Monty Webber, Michelle Lockwood (Kids) and American underground surf filmmakers Patrick Trefz (Thread) and Richard Kenvin (Hydrodynamica). Kidman also provides four special cuts of his own.

The filmmakers created their short films to music selected by Aaron Curnow from some of the greatest independent contemporary artists; Smog, Sufjan Stevens, Mogwai, My Morning Jacket, Dirty Three, Holly Throsby, Vetiver, Bonnie Prince Billy, The Brown Birds From Windy Hill (Andrew Kidman + Neal Purchase Jr) and Machine Translations.

See the film preview here and Machine Translations (Chapter Two) Oh Ma The Sea Is Rising here.

Spunk Presents… Another Night On Earth

When we recommend a gig, you trust us right? …right?

FBi ain’t no ordinary station and this ain’t no standard charity event – this is going to be a killah. Five hours of incredible Australian music (Spunk has the best taste), a beer, and a public holiday. The tension in my shoulders is practically melting away just thinking about it. Plus you score an Another Night On Earth poster and Spunk CD sampler just for showing.
