Malachai’s “Snowflake” – an instant classic

Malachai’s new oddity The Ugly Side Of Love is unquestionably one of EMI Oz’s fave albums of the year… you can’t make it through through reception, or any department in fact, without catching Snowflake or Warriors or Moonsurfin’ wafting out of multiple offices.

Last week we even had a tech-fail as we attempted to broadcast the album from multiple stereos in synch from opposite sides of the floor. (any tips are welcome)

Here’s the vid for Snowflake, featuring band vocalist Gee (who, when not wearing a monkey mask, strikes a stunning resemblance to the ginger doll on the album cover). The track is an instant classic… one of those tracks that’s familiar on the first listen: it’s too good to not have already existed.

Asha’s personal track recommendations from The Ugly Side of Love are Warriors, Another Sun, and How Long.

We’re not alone in our adulation of this Bristol duo. They toured nationally with Doves last year, and Kasabian’s Serge Pizzorno said Malachai reminds him of Revolver-era-Beatles /DJ-Shadow.
