Ask Robbie Williams

To celebrate the launch of Rob’s definitive collection TOMORROW, In And Out Of Consciousness: Greatest Hits 1990 – 2010, Robbie is opening himself up to fans to ask him the question they’ve always wanted to ask him over his 20 year history… and what a 20 years it’s been!

Check out the message from him here:

If that’s not revealing enough for you and you want even more Robbie, he is releasing a book titled You Know Me (and by the time you’ve read it you will) on December 1 which covers 20 years of singing, songwriting and performing, adventure, mischief, hiding and self-exposure, triumph, mishap, uncertainty and irrepressibility… PLUS personally selected pictures and stories from Robbie over the past 20 years. Forgotten Why You Love Robbie Williams? Let us remind you…

Late last year, Robbie Williams played a ridiculously intimate show at Sydney’s Metro Theatre, where he set out to “entertain the sh*t ” out of us. Suffice to say, he succeeded. Witnessing the phenomenal spotlit entity that is Robbie Williams (who makes whole arenas of 100K people both weep tenderly and want to dance ecstatically on aeroplane wings), in a room the size of The Metro was truly a once-in-lifetime experience.

Right about that time, Robbie was sporting a brand new “Take That” tatt on his wrist, testament to his rekindled relationship with his former bandmates.

Musical evidence of this reunion has finally surfaced as Robbie and Gary Barlow have co-written and performed a duet together called Shame. It’s the first time they’ve recorded and performed since Robbie’s departure from Take That in 1995.

Robbie's Take That tatt

Shame will be released in Australia on October as part of Robbie’s comprehensive Greatest Hits collection In And Out Of Consciousness – The Greatest Hits 1990 – 2010, which you can already preorder here from Sanity or JB Hi-Fi!

Rob’s last studio album Reality Killed The Video Star is available from our sister store The In Song, JB Hi Fi, iTunes.

New Robbie Williams video…QUICK see it first

Robbie’s new video for Morning Sun is directed by Vaughan Arnell, director of classic Robbie videos including Angels, Feel, and, most recently, Bodies.

Morning Sun

The Morning Sun music video sees Robbie rocketing out of space on an intergalactic voyage through the stars.

Morning Sun is from Robbie Williams‘ album Reality Killed The Video Star out now:

Robbie sings new song at NRJ Awards in France

Robbie Williams performed Morning Sun, one of my faves off the new album Reality Killed The Video Star, at the NRJ Awards in France

…where he also took home the award for “Best International Male” presented by Jean Paul Gautier and the stunning Dita Von Teese… those French know how to do it don’t they!?

Keep an eye out for Rob at this years Brit Awards on Feb 16 where he will be awarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Channel [V] are airing it in Australia on Feb 22.

The Brit Awards – Empire of the Sun, Lily Allen, & Robbie Williams

Brits trophy
Who’s up for a big old awards party? The esteemed Brit Awards are celebrating their 30th on Tues Feb 16 and we’ve just received the nominations which were picked out by the 1,000 strong BRITs Academy.

The lovely and tenacious Ms Lily Allen (currently in Oz!) is top of the pile, with three noms for British Female Solo Artist, British Album (It’s Not Me It’s You) and British Single of the Year (The Fear). But we always knew she was a clever kid…

The seriously exciting news is that our homegrown legends Empire of the Sun are taking on well… the world. The Empire has been nominated for both International Album (Walking On A Dream) and International Breakthrough Act. Emperor Luke Steele will fly to London to attend the Brits on behalf of the band, and by the looks of the Empire of the Sun site forums, the British Empyreans are super-excited to have him in their home town, sharing their oxygen supply (Empire fans are hardcore… but they’d better still themselves, because The Empire is heading to the UK and Europe for an assault on the summer festival circuit!)

If Empire wins either of the Awards, they’ll be the first Australian band to win a BRIT Award since Crowded House in 1994! The only other Australian band to have previously won a BRIT Award was INXS, and outside of Kylie Minogue, no other Australian artist has won a BRIT Award in the past decade! Empire’s competition this year is Jay-Z (on whose album Emperor Steele is a guest artist), Lady Gaga, Animal Collective and Black Eyed Peas.

Amongst the excitement about the nomination Emperor Steele said, “The dream was the king for this record and it is becoming wilder and wilder as the sandman keeps cooking. This is a great honour, we are walking on a dream.

In a déjà vu moment, Robbie Williams and Empire of the Sun will be sharing the Awards Ceremony limelight (think ARIAs ‘09), as Robbie Williams presented with the highly coveted Outstanding Contribution to Music Award. Robbie will close the 2010 show with a stunning live performance – here’s to more self-confessed Dad dancing!
