Snoop Dogg wants to spend NYE with us

Well colour my nizzle dizzle and pour me a gin n’ juice, today we received news that Snoop Dogg will be headlining not one but TWO Aussie festivals on New Year’s Eve.

The Doggfather will headline Fuzzy’s Shore Thing Festival on Bondi Beach on 31st Dec alongside Calvin Harris and Pedulum. Tickets went on sale today – get in quick and purchase them here. For all you Queenslanders, Snoop Dogg will also be headlining Future Entertainment’s Summerfieldayze festival, also on NYE, alongside Grandmaster Flash, Moby, Scissor Sisters and Pendulum. Tickets go on sale September 1st and you can buy them here. He’ll be then traveling back down the coast to Melbourne for Summerdayze on New Year’s Day and over to Perth on January 3rd.

Snoop Dogg  is a serious show starter – he recently made crowds go crazy by playing the entirety of 1993 album Doggystyle at Lovebox festival in London in June. Wonder if he’ll pull out any classics for NYE?

“Team Work Makes A Dream Work”: Words of Wisdom from The Doggfather to my 11 year old self

In 1993 Death Row Records released a debut record Doggystyle from a young rapper from Long Beach called Snoop Dogg. I was 11 years old.  Too young to buy CDs of my own, I would sneak into my older brother’s room and steal this record and listen to it till I knew all the lyrics (lyrics an 11 year old should NEVER repeat!).  This album kickstarted the digging into the world of rap and hip hop that as I got older I would uncover albums by Snoop’s contemporaries Dr Dre, Nate Dogg, Warren G and eventually Biggie Smalls and Tupac.  It was a great time for rap.

Yesterday at 28 (ok, almost 29) years old I met The Doggfather himself. Inside, my 11 year old self lost her shizzle.

The perfect setting for this ridiculous circumstance was Jupiter’s Casino on the Gold Coast, where we held a press conference to promote Snoop’s 11th studio album Doggumentary.

pressconference

The schedule ran on urban time but even after waiting hours for the main man, the media were definitely not disappointed as Snoop D-O-Double-Gizzle gave everyone a taste of his unique vernacular and crazy-ass drawl, singing the praises of “da land down unda”.

Snoop Dogg luvs Sookie Stackhouse

With the commencement of next season of True Blood (which is really just Twilight for grownups), Sookie Stackhouse’s admirers have stepped off the coffin, with Snoop Dogg leading the charge. Unlike Sam Merlott, he’s the “‘Dogg that don’t bite” and with offers like “Hey Sookie, can I take you away, have you ever been to LA?“, I don’t know how Bill can compete.

Snoop Dogg's "Oh Sookie"

Don’t know if y’all have noticed but our Chairman Snoop has been doing the rounds to some blockbuster videos of late, like the awesome Star Wars/Adidas FIFA commercial, Katy Perry’s California Gurls and Gorillaz’ Melancholy Hill. Looks like there ain’t no party like a Snoop Dogg party.

Katy Perry and Snoop represent West Coast “California Gurls”

Katy… I truly have no words.

But our Chairman’s disclaimer / introduction to our in-house screening of California Gurls says it all:

Adidas’s Stellar FIFA World Cup ad feat Daft Punk, Snoop Dogg, Noel Gallagher, Ian Brown, & Becks

So… the 4 yearly World Cup football-athon kicks off this weekend and round ball fans right around the globe are gearing up for some serious action.

On this side of the world sleepless nights, drunken mornings and a low spot on workplace performance reviews will be the tale of the next four weeks.

Brazil, Spain, England, Netherlands, Argentina, and current holders Italy (grrrr) are all placed to take out the 2010 edition. And in no time at all every person you pass on the street will be dissecting Australia’s match against Germany, Lionel Messi’s performance against Greece, Ronaldo’s amazing goal for Portugal and why England have once again been knocked out by penalties. (ed note – sorry Roddy but it’s true)

Already the mighty advertising dollar that dominates everything we touch, including sport, has shown it’s hand and a plethora of finely filmed, big budget ads have debuted on T.V and the interwebs.

One wonders, with so much quality going around this month, how Adidas managed to let this slip by the keeper…. one of the most nonsensical things I’ve seen in quite some time.
Still, somehow Snoop Dogg escapes with his cool intact… fo shizzle!!

Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg tease us with “California Gurls”

Check out this super fun teaser for Katy Perry’s California Gurls feat. fellow West Coast representative Snoop Dogg.

It’s cupcake-alicious and outrageously colourful – so very Katy.

Seems like Australia loves the West Coast… California Gurls is #1 on iTunes Australia and is now a Gold single! Katy Perry - California Gurls

From Maccas to Martha, Snoop Dogg switches from Egg McMuffins to special green Brownies

Snoop Dogg has come along way indeed and the benchmark for the hip-hop elite has just been set with Snoop baking special green brownies with Martha Stewart.

Martha and Snoop rhyme and whisk their way through the segment, with Snoop confused by the colour of vanilla, taking about baking Egg Mcmuffins and encouraging Martha throughout to drop the special green ingredient that make the brownie so much better. Perfect day time TV moment with Martha wearing her Christmas card jumper special rapping “especially if it’s green, especially if it’s green“.

Nuffin like taking his album Malice ‘N Wonderland to the masses. Oh hail Snoop.

Gangsta Luv

Good thing Snoop threw those flotation rings overboard otherwise he’d be in big trouble. His album Malice N Wonderland is out Dec 4th.
