EMI Music Australia Staff = Rockstar Music Nerds
As you may or may not be aware, EMI Music Australia is a hub of incredibly talented music nerds with (mostly) amazing music taste. Though it should be noted that our talent does not just lie in our passionately honed marketing/accounting/mail sorting skills. Our staff list is peppered with talented musicians and djs, ex-pop stars, and rockstar “works in progress”. It is important to take a step back every now and then and recognise the often forgotten gifts of some of our most respected employees.
Megan Finney – New Business Manager (Merchandise, Abbey Road Live, The In Song)
Anyone who knows EMI’s favourite 28 year old songstress knows the story of her amazing songwriting career which has spanned continents and many years. Most famously Megan penned and performed I’m So High, as covered by *ahem* one of the Minogue sisters on her mildly successful Light Years album
Check out Megan B. Smith I’m So High…
…and the cover done by Kylie Minogue herself:
Scott Byrnes – Systems Engineer, IT
IT guy by day, highly respected Aussie Hip Hop MC by night. Scott knows how to rap and he isn’t afraid to show it!
Check out Scott Burns The Frequency taken from his critically acclaimed debut album Day 1.
And the cameos! As an extra-curricular activity, some of us love to feature in video clips on our off days.
Eg the bone-chillingly frosty weekend a bunch of EMI staffers travelled up to an abandoned Newcastle coalyard to film the Something With Numbers video for We’ll Fight. How many can you pick?
Glenn Dickie – A&R Manager
Glenn took it upon himself to play the token creepy-smile guy in this colourful clip

Kara Mukerjee – Online Projects Manager
Click through to 1’27” to see a dazzling array of cartwheels as performed by Miss Mukerjee in one of her finer moments. (ed note – the first and only cartwheel ever successfully achieved in my life. Luckily it was digitally multiplied 20x)
Sparkadia Morning Light.
Nikki “Coxie” Cox – National Media Manager
Promo-gal extraordinaire Coxie shows off her amazing cleaning skills in this pearler.
Kid Confucious Darlin’ I Need Ya.
Now this list is by no means exhaustive, and there are many notable exclusions due to lack of appropriate video footage and/or threat of being beaten to a pulp. Exclusions include but are not limited to our gals DJ Roxy and Sarah Crane (of Bad Wives fame), plus the RnB girl group that was Anna Le’s x3 (Times Three) and A&R supergroup The Goldhearted – featuring both Glenny G AND Miami Holland.
Keep ‘em coming, kids!
ed note – Post author / Licensing & Synch Manager Liesl Fitzpatrick conveniently “forgot” to include her own cameo in Bluejuice frontman Jake Stone’s early noughties band The Baggsmen. See her get her fisticuffs on Jake at 1′27″ in the clip for Bubblegum:
We KNOW there are many more music video closet cases out there, so if you know have friends at EMI who haven’t fessed up – dob them in!
