When music and sport “Come Together”

The Olympics. Every four years, all four corners of the world are brought together in this grand sporting event. The EMI family couldn’t have been prouder then, to see our British (and international) artists represent London and showcase the world their talent in this year’s first-class Opening Ceremony.

British indie rockers Arctic Monkeys covered The Beatles classic ‘Come Together’ during Danny Boyle’s (director of Slumdog Millionaire) four-hour Olympic extravaganza.

Scottish soul child, Emeli Sandé was handpicked by Boyle and gave a stellar vocal performance of the gorgeous hymn ‘Abide With Me’.

The legendary Beatle, Sir Paul McCartney, blew audiences away when he opened with ‘The End’ and incited a mass sing-a-long of the timeless tune ‘Hey Jude’. At his piano, McCartney, now 70, managed to light up the entire Olympic stadium, as athletes from every country – and the crowd – sang along to every single word.

The fabulous event was made memorable for a plethora of reasons, including the Queen jumping out of a helicopter with 007 himself in tow! We are eagerly awaiting the performances of Blur and The Specials for the Olympics Closing Ceremony and are filled with so much pride and joy to see the world uniting through sport, dance and of course music!
