Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi new animated video
Directed by Chris Milk and Anthony Francisco Schepperd (who also animated it), the video for 'Two Against One' feat. Jack White is the latest installment in Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi’s 5 years in the making: Rome project.
We are LOVING this video! First of all it’s a hand-drawn cell animation... is that talent or what? The edgy black, white and pops of colour clip is fast paced and confronting, allowing the mellow track to flow smoothly through the hectic visual maze. “Rome as a whole is a piece of music with such a specific identity and history that it was crucial for all the accompanying visuals to reflect that,” says Danger Mouse. Think Gorillaz meets Anime action cartoon: this is art at it's best. The two minute, 22 second clip is not long enough in our opinion! Agree?
Fear not... the music of Rome is now being developed in to a film and this clip acts merely as an early precursor to a new full-length, live action project. “The music video is essentially the fever dream of the antagonist of the story. It's mostly his backstory, his life before the tale we see in the movie...These pieces are sort of narrative breadcrumbs that lead you to the eventual larger story,” Chris Milk explains. HUZZAH!! Who doesn’t love breadcrumbs?! We can’t wait to devour the full-length feature either, but until then, check out the facebook page and sink your teeth into this delicious hors d’oeuvre! You won’t be disappointed.
