Oh Mercy! Feel that deep, Deep Heat

Who says you can’t have a collection of dangerous and sexy songs with great words? This is what Oh Mercy had in mind when they crafted Deep Heat, the Melbourne-born band’s third and most colourful album to date.

Alexander Gow penned the 10 propulsive songs in Portland, Oregon, for the first time writing in third-person, taking on characters and exploring some of the darker sides of sexuality and desire.

Deep Heat is the hotly anticipated follow-up to last year’s acoustic-based album Great Barrier Grief and will hit shelves this Friday, 24th August. It features the pulsating lead single ‘Drums’ and is the triple j Feature Album this week.

To celebrate the official LP launch, the band will be performing three special in-store shows in Sydney and Melbourne over two days and Alexander Gow will be signing your copies of Deep Heat on the spot!

Oh Mercy have had heads turning not only with their groovy new music, but with the bold album cover (a provocative scene from Rio de Janeiro Mardi Gras shot by iconic '60s photographer Rennie Ellis) and their outrageously OTT ‘80s-inspired teaser video footage!

But don’t take our word for it – see what the critics have said about Oh Mercy’s third offering…

“An elemental riot of sound and colour that sneaks in some of Gow’s best songwriting to date”Rolling Stone magazine, ****

“Deep Heat ranges widely with giddy experimentation, from the Roxy Music-inspired ‘My Man’ to the Sandinistal-era Clash trappings of ‘Still Making Me Pay’... an exceptional comeback"triple j magazine, 8/10
