Gig Review: Northeast Party House at Upstairs Beresford, Sydney
If you were lucky enough to push past the long line stretching out of The Beresford’s doors and get yourself to the front of the stage on Saturday night, you weren’t leaving ‘til the lights went out because Northeast Party House put on an amazing performance.
Admittedly, I had never heard of Northeast Party House until this gig and it took me quite a while to remember the lengthy name, but now I definitely won’t forget it.
Dressed in their PJs and whatever else they wanted, they lit up the stage with a unique mix of sounds. We heard the typical guitar and drum sounds, but this time mixed with beat machines, mind-bending synths, smooth vocals and even a cowbell. After the first few tracks I was sold!
Each member of the group showed glimpses of individual musical brilliance, but were extremely tight as a group and knew how to have fun on stage. Northeast Party House had me dancing for the entire show, with tracks like ‘Dusk’ and ‘Embezzler’ turning the crowd into a party. It was an all-round great performance that had me buzzing for the rest of the night.
The boys from Northeast Party House are young, hungry, and if you don’t know them yet, you better learn, because they are here to stay.
Make sure you check 'em out at the UNSW Roundhouse on Thursday, October 11th!
