A pinch and a punch for Australian Music Month!
Streuth mate! It’s November 1st – the first official day of Australian Music Month, which means there’s plenty for us to celebrate over the coming weeks with the awesome array of homegrown talent on the EMI roster.
Kicking things off on Day 1, we’ve patriotically clad ourselves in green and gold attire and hoisted up some Australian flags in EMI HQ. Heaps Aussie ay?!
From now until the end of November, we’ve also vowed to play Aussie music only through the office speakers – and to turn it up nice and loud! So if you visit us this month, you’ll be hearing a lot of Something For Kate, Ball Park Music, Angus & Julia Stone, Papa Vs Pretty, Ricki-Lee, Oh Mercy, Bob Evans, Gold Fields and Millions. Fair dinkum!
To get the party started, we’ve even set up our own Ausmusic Month Spotify playlist, which you’re welcome to subscribe to and have a listen to some of our fave Aussie tunes.
And nothing celebrates the talents and achievements of Australian musicians more than the official ARIA Awards (Nov 29), which we're all giddily counting down to. The In Sound From Way Out will also be hosting a pre-ARIA showcase event "Girt By Emcee" with our friends from Inertia featuring Pez, Seth Sentry, Grey Ghost and Urthboy at the Oxford Art Factory on Wed 28.
And that’s not all. Watch this space In Sounders – we’ve got plenty more festivities and plans up our sleeves to spread the love for Australian music this month, with local gigs, surprise artist visits, EMI Art Project window displays, and a very special ‘Top 20 Aussie Albums of 2012’ feature from our A&R music gurus.
Blimey! What a ripper of a month this is gonna be. Make sure you turn up that good ol’ Australian music.
