Thank you ARIAs!

A night of glitz and glimmer and endless glasses of champagne has passed – yes, the music event of the year has come and gone, but this years 25th Anniversary ARIA Awards are still sitting fresh in our memory:  from the butterflies that just wouldn’t rest when driving up to the venue, to envying the amazing YSL shoes Ricki-Lee wore, to desperately trying to get a picture taken with the awesome Madden brothers from Good Charlotte, this year’s ARIAs were everything we expected and more. Held at Allphones Arena in the Sydney Olympic Park, the star studded ceremony gave tribute to the finest Aussie acts before a capacity audience comprised of members of industry heavy weights, artists and music fans.  Among the winners was our very own Birds Of Tokyo who took home the prestigious award for ‘Most Popular Australian Artist’ – congrats to the band for that one!

As usual, EMI held a fabulous after party, teaming up with fantastic sponsors that kept the party going at the Ruby Rabbit’s, where we celebrated the amazing music we all love and work so hard for.

Check out the cool/fun/stunning/crazy afterparty pics below…

Want to go to the ARIA Awards?

The ARIAs are just around the corner – and this aint any old ARIAs, it’s the 25th Anniversary ARIA Awards. On Sunday November 27th, you could just sit on your couch and watch the event unfold on Go! TV (from 7.30pm), but why watch it on the box when you could be in on all the action live at All Phones Arena??? We’ve got an ARIA Insider hot ticket price available here.

Who’s going to be appearing at the ARIA Awards you ask? There’ll be performances by Drapht, Boy & Bear, Gotye with Kimbra, Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, Art Vs Science, and more still to be announced. Plus, appearances by actor Noah Taylor, funny men Hamish & Andy, and Benji and Joel Madden from Good Charlotte. It’s gonna be a ‘goodun.

Good Charlotte to rock the JD Set… ’90s style

Jack Daniels have a reputation for throwing great parties and Good Charlotte know how to rock a room (especially an Aussie one!) – so naturally they’re joining forces for the next round of JD Sets. Last month’s JD Set featured Art Vs Science covering the music of Icehouse, and this round comes with another cool twist – Good Charlotte will cover nineties legend Weezer, with support from Amy Meredith.

It gets better: the boys will be covering songs from their debut album The Blue Album, which was released in 1994 and spawned the mainstream hits “Undone – The Sweater Song” and “Buddy Holly”, and has often been touted as one of the most important albums of that pivotal era in music….. AKA the nineties!

Keen to come along? We have a double-pass to give away to the best answer to this question: Good Charlotte are performing Weezer’s classic Blue album for The JD Set. What Weezer song would you be excited to hear them cover and why…? To enter, email your answer to jdset@theinsoundfromwayout.com before November 7th.

Good Charlotte perform Weezer-  The Blue Album plus their own greatest hits on the following dates:
Thursday, 10 November 2011 – The Forum, Melbourne – Buy Tix
Friday, 11 November 2011 – Selina’s @ Coogee Bay Hotel, Sydney – Buy Tix
Saturday, 12 November 2011 – Eaton’s Hill Hotel, Brisbane – Buy Tix

Good Charlotte end a massive week in Australia with a VIP ‘Cardiology’ party!

EMI is not just a company, it is a modern family environment for its amazing staff members and all the talented artists signed to the label – and like Pippa & Tom Fletcher in the beginnings of Home & Away, everybody who enters the house is a family member for life.

Recently Good Charlotte came over to the EMI family and their welcome party was played out for all to see this week. It started in Melbourne when Joel & Benji Madden arrived into the country with a full schedule of interviews that included appearances on the 7pm Project, every press and radio station in town and a chance to have some fun doing laps in V8 Supercars for a day. Joel & Benji then graced Sydney town with more radio, press and television interviews and a performance on Sunrise where the brothers did a very special acoustic version of their new hit single Like It’s Her Birthday off their upcoming album Cardiology (released on October 29).

Their ‘family’ visit ended last night with a worldwide exclusive Cardiology album premier party held at the gorgeous Cargo Lounge in Darling Harbour. It was a chance to bring their new album to Aussie audiences first, and the fans were more than excited to be hearing the first taste. With a red carpet to boot and packed into the gorgeous venue, media, VIPs and prize winners alike went into a frenzy when the boys arrived to flashbulbs and screams – and the craziness didn’t stop there. The crowd packed in and around the stage when Nova’s James Kereley introduced the boys to the excited audience who were enjoying the flowing champagne and a chance to see the Madden brothers in person.

With the boys meeting their biggest fans on one end of the room, the other end of the room was filled with plenty of punters and VIPs including Idol winner Stan Walker and Lindsay Rodriguez enjoying the album pumping full blast on the speakers. The resounding repetition from the lucky few who were able to meet the boys was a chorus of “They’re such nice guys!”, and everyone else in the room was left wondering – despite the tattoos and rock star get up, are the Madden boys the nicest boys in rock? We vote YES and we cannot wait for everyone to hear their new album soon and have them back.
